The challenge

Woking’s inaugural car show needed a strong visual brand to draw people to the event and increase footfall in the town centre. The publicity had several specific requirements: to make a clear link with Woking Town Centre; to feature classic and modern cars, reflecting the show’s collection; and to use a red and black colour palette, echoing the brands of both the sponsor (Trident Honda) and Woking Borough Council.

The solution

Vintage travel poster styling was used as a framework to bring all the desired elements into a cohesive whole. The resulting illustration blends the required cars within the Woking setting with a car badge-style title that can also stand alone. This approach, reminiscent of motoring’s golden age, imparts a luxurious feel to the publicity.

We had a vision of what we wanted, which Mary understood and translated into a visual design that was spot on from the start. She kept us informed of her creative direction and frequently sought additional information to fed into her work. The result was a detailed designed that really captured the essence of Woking and the event.

Mary is very organised, efficiently handling our last-minute requests for additional artwork. She provided accurate, detailed quotes and an itemised invoice, which were very helpful and made our budget easier to manage.
